Forever & Ever Double Pink Hydrangea

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Alan Summers A Repeat Blooming Hydrangea with Double Blooms Hydrangea Forever and Ever Double Pink is a beautiful new introduction for 2006 that comes from a Japanese breeder and is very floriferous and long-blooming. Like the widely popular Endless Summer Hydrangea, Forever and Ever Double Pink blooms on both old and new wood and blooms repeatedly throughout the season. Double pink’s unique multi-petalled flowers create a billowy mound of full 6 inch clusters that almost cover the plant when it blooms. The mounding habit reaches about 24-30″ tall and grows to about 36″ wide. Forever and Ever Double Pink’s compact habit makes it perfect for containers or small gardens. The fact that it blooms on new wood makes it great for northern areas where it is traditionally difficult to have hydrangeas bloom. Planting and Care For best results plant in early spring to late summer. Prefers an area with morning sun and afternoon shade. Will perform best in moist, but not wet, soil. Add Soil Moist if you think the soil is too dry.Plant so the top of the root ball is a half inch below the surface of the soil. For the best pink-toned blooms, use Chesapeake Blue Crab Compost, with a handful of Bulb-Tone and a handful of Lime at planting. Top-dress with a handful of Bulb-Tone and, in acid soils, a handful of Lime every year in late November and early March. Hardy in zones 5 to 9. Why Can’t I Lose Weight?

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Ross Gallo We have all been there. When we were younger, we could eat like a horse and never gain weight. Now 10, 20, or 30 years later, if we look at food, we gain weight. This report on weight loss tips will give you the insight that you knew all along, but with your day-to-day struggles to lose weight you were blinded by your lack of weight loss. We will cover 3 main points that will help you lose weight 1. O Metabolism, Metabolism! wherefore art thou Metabolism? Going back to the time when you were younger, you were full of energy. Your metabolism was high and running around as a kid or young adult you just burned calories right and left. Your body was like a hummingbird, just give me sugar and I can still lose weight. But now, we have aged a little bit (some more than others) and we are not as active as we once were. Instead of walking or biking down to the local store, we jump into our SUV and drive there. Worse yet we order it online. Work today is more sedentary than it was for our parents. Weight loss tip number 1, get up, and get moving. If you haven’t exercised in some time start off by walking. There is one girl in town that walked about 30 minutes every day and lost 200 pounds after a year and a half. 2. Come on everybody, we can lose weight using the latest fad. I have tried them all, you have tried them all. I bet we both still need to lose weight. How many times have you read where someone lost 50 pounds only to gain back 75. The low fat, no fat, no carb, cabbage soup, latest Hollywood craze, chew it and spit it out diet, come on get real. IF, you were honest with yourself you know the only way to lose weight is to eat less calories than what you burn. It is that simple. Everything that the late night hucksters will tell you boils down to that. Weight loss tip number 2, eat a balanced healthy diet. If you have problems with portion control try some of the excellent frozen food products that really do taste good. They ain’t your momma’s TV dinners. 3. Check your emotions at the door. Easier said than done, right. We all know that people turn to comfort food when they feel down. That piece of chocolate or that bowl of ice cream, yum. Stop it, you know the connection between emotions and food. Emotions are a big reason why we are not slim, trim and racy. Weight loss tip number 3. Fool yourself. Use some of these tricks to trick yourself. When you feel the urge because of the emotional roller coaster, * Call a friend * Go for a walk * Read * Take a Shower * Drink water I told my wife, if it is in the house I will eat it, if it isn’t I won’t crave it. Well I hope this small article helps you to lose all the weight you want to lose. Remember these three things. 1. Get moving with exercise 2. Balanced approach to your diet 3. Don’t use food as your excuse, use it for the proper fuel you need. Your success is now up to you, I wish you all the success in your weight loss program. Are You Holding Your Mouth Right To Catch More Fish?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Charles White My young stepson and I was fishing at Rush Creek in Ohio and using the same rod and reel, line and lure. Everything was exactly the same, the problem was I had caught about a dozen bass and he hadn’t caught any and we were only standing about 10 feet apart. He finally asked me why I was catching all the fish and he wasn’t. I said “Well John, you’re not holding your mouth right”. He said “How A I suppose to Hold it?”. I said “like this”. I made some strange face and had my lip stuck out and my face all messed up. So, I looked over and seen him trying to mimic the face I made and just fishing away. I never thought any more about it. About 2 months later, he went up to the mountains of California and was fishing for trout at his grandparent’s cabin. He was standing by the stream and his grandfather came along to check on him. His grandfather kept watching and talking to him and finally said “John is there something wrong with your face? Are you sick?”. So John explained I had told him to make his face like that to catch more fish. His grandfather tried not to laugh and went on his way to tell John’s grandmother who told my wife and it got back to me. Charles E. White has fished for almost 50 years for bass from California to Florida. In his lifetime, it is estimated that he has caught over 6,000 bass. His biggest bass is a 12 pound 14 ounce that hangs on his wall in his office. Charles has fished with people who have never fished for bass before and taught them how to become successful anglers and also has fished with the Pros in Florida. The Cox-2 Prescription Painkillers Are Back?

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ian_Mason] Ian Mason This past week, the FDA held a meeting in order to decide what should be done about Mercks Vioxx and Pfizers Bextra and Celebrex. The Food and Drug Administration originally intended to ban these pain medications. However, this was challenged by a series of obstacles. The Cox-2 painkiller prescription medications are back due to popular demand! In spite of the life-threatening side-effects such as heart attacks, many patients feel that the medications have changed their lives for the good. Many patients claim that drugs such as Vioxx have brought them from living in a wheelchair (practically paralyzed by chronic pain) to living something close to a normal life. These people have been counting down the number of pills (days) they have left until life as they know it is over; and some decided to stand up and make their point at the FDA meeting. One woman even stated that shed sign any waivers or consent agreements she needed to in order to keep the life she has. No other known medications can help these people. Currently, without the Cox-2 drugs, a life of paralyzing pain is the only other option. For some patients, the benefits outweigh the risks by a longshot. The FDA has decided against the ban on Cox-2 prescription medications, but has prohibited the advertising of these drugs directly to consumers. Direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising consists of methods such as television and radio commercials, etc. The reintroduction of Vioxx and acceptance of Celebrex/Bextra back into the health industry are both possibly great decisions. However, in order to make it work, a decent amount of reform is necessary to ensure patient safety and understanding. Well see what happens. Although the Cox-2 drugs have been reintroduced or accepted into the market, we at Shoppe.MD will stand by our 2004 decision to discontinue the sale of prescriptions for Vioxx, Celebrex, and Bextra. Shoppe.MD online pharmacy does not plan on reintroducing these medications in the future. If you have a difficulty with pain, please talk to your doctor in person. Benefits of All-Natural Indian Beauty Methods - Threading, Sugaring, Henna, Turmeric Treatment

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Anu Doddapaneni India is a country known for its vibrant colors, rich culture, and timeless traditions. What many don’t know, is that India has been at the center of all-natural beauty techniques that have been used for 100’s of years. Below is an account of 4 of these traditional beauty methods, and their benefits. Threading is a centuries-old technique of hair removal practiced in India, and rapidly growing in popularity across the United States. Being that it is 100% natural, it is especially recommended for sensitive skin. The beautician removes individual or rows of unwanted hair by using string or thread, and pulling out the hairs by the follicle. Threading is better than other methods of facial hair removal including waxing, tweezing, and razors. Waxing is not as precise; it burns, peels, and scars skin, and repeated waxing on the face (especially the eyebrow area) can cause premature wrinkles. Tweezing and razors often times cut the skin and cause ingrown hairs. Unlike all 3 of the mentioned methods, threading is precise, gentle on the skin, and is actually excellent for removing ingrown hairs. Sugaring is an all-natural method of removing unwanted hair, much like waxing. The key ingredients in sugar wax are lemon and sugar, each of which have their own benefitting properties. Lemon is known for its naturally astringent qualities, and is an excellent cleansing agent. Sugar is a natural exfoliant in beauty, ridding the skin of dead cells. Most clients say that sugaring hurts less than traditional waxing, and redness if any, fades quickly. There are absolutely no chemicals in sugar wax and is therefore suitable for all skin types, and especially ideal for sensitive skin. Henna, also a centuries-old tradition in India, is used to create intricate hand art designs. The paste of a ground plant, naturally in a reddish-brown dye, is used to create temporary tattoos which last between 1-3 weeks. In India, henna has traditionally been used on women before special ocassions, holidays, and weddings. In addition to using henna on the body (usually hands and feet), henna has also been used on the hair to color gray hairs to a reddish-brown, and to deeply condition non-gray hairs. It’s an excellent alternate for pregnant women who would like to maintain their appearance, but cannot use the harsh chemicals found in mainstream hair coloring kits. Turmeric is a yellow spice used in much of Indian cooking. It has also been used as a Ayurvedic beauty agent. Turmeric not only has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, but also corrects hyperpigmentation and softens the skin. For these reasons, many Indian brides use a turmeric treatment to prepare for their wedding day - it leaves skin even-toned, shiny, soft, and supple. Praba Salon has received rave reviews from the media and clients alike. Rated as one of the best new day spas by TimeOut, sugaring spa by Seventeen, and the best henna artist in NYC by Shecky’s Guide. Fishing Rods - What Type Do I Need?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Trevor Kugler Choosing the correct fishing rod for your favorite fishing situations can be a fairly difficult task. There are all kinds of things written on the fishing rod itself, and all of them have a different “feel”. I’m going to attempt to clear up some of the confusion for you. I’ve seen many anglers that have one fishing rod that they use for all of their fishing. This is a mistake and a sure fire sign that said angler doesn’t catch many fish. I’m not suggesting that you should have a locker full of 50 different rods, but you should have two or three available for different situations. The type of fishing rod that you need really has to do with the kind and size of fish that you’re fishing for. If you’re fishing for Crappie, you need a different rod than when you fish for Steelhead. Fishing rods come is the basic actions listed below. This information is printed (in very small lettering) on the rod itself, directly above the handle, along with suggestions as to lure and line sizes. The bottom line is that you must have different fishing rods for different fishing situations. In most cases the same fishing rod should not be used in all fishing situations. Ultra light Action - these rods are used for fishing very small lures. Ultra light rods are perfect for small stream and river fishing, such as when you’re wading. The heavier the current, the longer rod you will want. Ultra light rods are a great choice for trout and pan fish. Light Action - Light action rods are used for the same situations as ultra light action rods. If you’re just starting out, start with a light action rod and work your way to ultra light. Again, these rods are perfect for trout and pan fish fishing. Medium Action - Medium action rods are right in the middle of the scale (imagine that). Medium action rods are to be used when fishing larger rivers for larger fish. I personally use medium action rods for my walleye and smallmouth bass fishing in Canada. Medium action is also a good size for trolling smaller lures. Medium Heavy Action - This size rod is great for trolling most lures. Medium heavy rods are also great for most salmon and steelhead fishing. As the name suggests, these rods are to be used in situations where you’re after bigger fish (10 to 20 pounds as a general example), although it’s also a favorite size for large mouth bass anglers. Heavy Action - Obviously, these are your big boys. Largemouth bass fishermen will use rods this size to fish heavy cover and the like. Also, when you’re fishing for big pike and catfish, heavy action rods are a must. These rods are used for really big fish (over 20 pounds as a general example). This action rod is also used for heavy trolling, such as that done with downriggers. As mentioned earlier, the bottom line is that the same fishing rod shouldn’t be used for all of your fishing. That is of course supposing that you don’t fish the same body of water for the same type of fish all the time. If you do only fish one body of water for a single type of fish, then 1 fishing rod will probably work just fine for you. An example would be myself. I’m primarily fish for trout in the same river and prefer to use ultra light gear. One rod doesn’t cut it for me. I have to have two, because I’ve found that when the water is high, I need a longer rod. So I simply switch to my six foot six inch rod when the water is high (such as in the spring). The point being that in my case although I primarily fish the same body of water for the same type of fish, I still need a choice of fishing rods. Can any Toys Save the Toy Market This Year?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Mikey Simms The toy world has seen a steady increase in sales in recent months due to the strong sales of Webkinz, Webkinz trading cards and the Nintendo Wii. However much of the rest of the toy world is down as platforms like the Playstation 3 and Playstation 3 games have well under sold their expectations. This fall some new toys are coming into the market which include new Webkinz, TMX Ernie and TMX Cookie Monster and Singing Pizza Elmo. The question now is with the rising gas prices looking to put a clamp on holiday sales will it make sales of these specialized toys decline this year lower than they have been? The high gas prices have not seemed to affect the sales of Webkinz and Webkinz trading cards as Webkinz have received well over 750,000 searches per month online. Many retailers have sold out and have been sold for quite some time of the Webkinz plush and the Webkinz trading cards look to be extinct soon enough. As Christmas approaches hype could only build for the new TMX Friends which are the “Tickle Me Extreme Friends” and the follow up to the Tickle Me Extreme Elmo or (TMX ELMO) as its better known. The new TMX Friends are TMX Ernie and TMX Cookie Monster. They have the same features of the TMX Elmo such as extreme laughter when you tickle them and many of the same motions. TMX Friends stand about 3 inches shorter than the TMX Elmo however. With the release of the TMX Friends in October we’ll also see the Singing Pizza Elmo which is sure to be a hit with any Elmo collectors or children who love Elmo. But the question remains for the economy, will it overcome the short falls and allow consumers to buy their toys for their kids this fall and winter quarter? I have to believe that parents and kids will find a way to buy whatever toys they are looking for this winter at whatever expense. Hopefully the economy and gas prices can rebound by the forth quarter of the year but its hard to say. It seems that every expert opinion on the economy has seemed a bit off in recent times so I never base anything I believe on what anyone else says. Walmart sales have recently been down 3% under last year and that could be another factor going into this years toy season as Walmart tends to be a front runner in sales in just about every market category. No matter what happens with the economy and gas prices this year TMX Friends, Singing Pizza Elmo and The New Webkinz and Lil’ Kinz plush toys will be sure to be this seasons front runners and captivate numerous kids and parents around the globe. Against any prediction it could be another season of high sales for vendors on Ebay making premium prices on these toys on a sold out market. This year Webkinz Plush and Trading cards have commanded such premiums already. Webkinz Trading Cards have been selling as high as $260 a box and some of the retired Webkinz Plush have harnessed a $1000+ price tag. The main thing to note on this achievement is that many people are paying the prices. No price is too much if people are willing to pay it and someone is always willing to pay whatever price to get the toys they are looking for. TMX Friends, Ernie, Cookie Monster and sining Pizza Elmo may bring down some of the high Webkinz Prices this fall and at the same time we’ll see many gaming console system at great rates especially as new titles are released for each system by fall. If you are in the market for any of the hot toys this year I suggest getting them as early as possible and as soon as they hit the market. If you can grab a few extra you may be one of the next hot merchants on Ebay. Monster Hunt: Ledge Lunker Blues Part II

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Jeff Williams Originally published in Procats Online Magazine Settin It Up Once Jeff has picked his area by marking the right bottom contour near the thermocline and the right space between the fish and the bottom, he is ready to deploy the drift socks. Williams will usually only use on drift sock or sea anchor to set his drift at the right speed and path. Some anglers use two anchors out the side of the boat but Jeff prefers to drift with the socks either out the front or the back to get a more controlled drift. If the wind is moving at a fairly good clip, Jeff will fish from the front so the wind doesnt push his boat too fast. If the wind is fairly slow, he will fish from the back so the wind has more of a flat surface to push on, thus speeding up his drift. Jeff notes that he will catch more fish if he speeds up or slows down the drift when he needs to cover more or less water. Also of note is that matching the speed of the boat to the activity level of the fish seems to work best on certain days. You just have to fish and vary your drift speed till you start hookin up with fish. I like to start with a certain drift speed and then go faster or slower from there. If Jeff is catching fish fairly consistently he will leave the boat speed alone. If he goes very far without a hook-up and he is still marking fish on the graph, he will slow down or speed up if he thinks it is necessary. On windless days, Jeff will use his bow-mounted trolling motor to create a drift. Fresh Bait Jeff says that one of the most important parts of his fishing success is having fresh bait all day long. He motors to areas that hold shad such as bays, and cuts, and then moves slowly around till he locates schools of shad on his sonar unit. From the front of the boat, he throws a 16-foot diameter 1-inch mesh cast net and usually gets enough bait fairly quick. As soon as he nets the first few gizzard shad he tosses them into a top-quality aerated oval bait tank made by Grayline. After he has caught enough big shad he drains the water out of the tank then refills it. If I want the freshest bait possible I have to get the water changed. When shad get stressed they regurgitate and their stomach acids build up in the tanks water and burn their gills. By changing the water, you remove all that and the built-in tank filters will do the rest. Williams uses either chunks or fillets depending on what works the best for that day. He makes sure to cut the chunks at an angle so they are streamlined enough not to spin much. Ready to Go Weve got the right bait and figured out where to fish and set up the boat for the right drift by deploying the drift sock according to the power of the wind. Now its time to look at Jeffs drift rig set-up. Jeff has experimented with many different snagless sinker styles including bottom-bouncers, weighted welding rods, modified egg sinker rigs, pencil weights, and others but he has finally decided on one that works best for him. He ties a short piece of 20 pound monofilament onto a small snap swivel then threads on eight ounce egg sinkers onto the line and then fastens the last one to the line. Youre Ready Well, there you have it folks. Jeffs simple yet effective summertime pattern he uses to catch blue cats on reservoirs can be used on lots of big lakes across the country. Get out there and drift, pay close attention to whats happening while youre on the water drifting and youll be catching blues like he does in no time. Chances are if you spend the time on a lake that has some monster-sized blues, you may be surprised just how big a fish you can handle! Succeeding at the Interview

Friday, March 14th, 2008

By Stefanie Spikell In order to get the job, you have to show up as enthusiastic, knowledgeable and right for the position. There are ways you can assure this. The tips below are just a few things to remember when you are in the interview setting. Your job in the interview is to make the hiring manager like you well enough to want to hire you over all the other qualified candidates. Since you will be liked within the first five minutes of the interview, be very careful at that first impression. Are you dressed modestly and appropriately? Ladies, did you leave the cleavage-showing sweater at home and wear a pretty blouse that flatters you but is not too revealing? Is your skirt at an appropriate length? Gentlemen, did you show up in a jacket and tie? Are your shoes shined? While you want to know about the company you are applying to, dont waste the interviewers time by trying to demonstrate that you have studied the company. Let that come out more naturally as you answer the questions that the interviewer wants to ask. Be very careful that you take your lead from the interviewer. You dont want to direct this interview, but you DO want to be responsive to the interviewer.
